How to Filter Internal Traffic from Dynamic and Fixed IP Addresses

To exclude internal traffic from dynamic and fixed IP addresses in Google Analytics, follow these steps in your Google Analytics account:

Admin > choose account > choose profile > Filters > + New Filter


How to filter fixed IP addresses

1) Click on Custom Filter > Exclude

2) Select "IP Address" in Filter Field dropdown.

3) Write your IP address in Filter Pattern.

4) Click on "Save".

How to filter dynamic IP addresses in Google Analytics

1) Click on Custom Filter > Exclude

2) Select "Campaign Source" in the Filter Field dropdown.

3) Write internaltraffic in the Filter Pattern text field.

4) Click on "Save".

5) Clean the cookies of your browser.

6) Write the address of your website in this text field, press "Enter" and click on the URL next to it.

So should repeat this step every time you clean the cookies of your browser, so your cookie won't get lost.

Hi Daniel, Thank you for the interesting article. I manage several accounts of clients with fixed IPs. By now, I had to create the exclusion filters for internal traffic so often that I created a tool for it. It's open source and 100% simply because I wanted to give something back to the community. It creates an exclusion filter for the IP you visit it with, at the click of a button. So you don't have to look up your own IP anymore.
